Yi and Yanko, founders of YSTUDIO, are both designers. Their minds are in-sync, and they have shared ambitions and an outlook on life since their first meeting.
Aesthetics and art carry a deep meaning for both of them; with the worry that a lack of high-end writing tools to present the beauty and depth of Chinese characters always on their mind.
To this end, in 2012, they decided to build their own brand of elegant stationery – YSTUDIO - for Taiwanese, and to encourage people anywhere to enjoy writing and experiencing the emotion and weight behind the characters they use.
We focus on making elaborate stationery and hope our warm connection and the emotions put into our designs could be felt through their use.
YSTUDIO has developed as an internationally renowned brand with more than 350 sales channels in almost 40 countries, in cities including Paris, Milan, London, Copenhagen, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Bangkok. In Africa, we can be found in Nigeria and in the Middle East - in Israel.
YSTUDIO can also be seen alongside internationally renowned names such as Paul Smith and MR PORTER in Britain, at the Guggenheim Museum in the US, Tsutaya Bookstore in Japan, and Le Bon Marché in France.

Soon, we will celebrate our 10th anniversary. In renaming the brand, we have decided to capitalize our English name. Clear and definite strokes in the English alphabet can easily be recognized as a powerful statement behind our own strong determination to continue our mission.
New logo designed by ANGLE visual integration. The change to an updated logo, the use of English alphabet letters in a sans serif font, and a more geometric product shape is to emphasize the possibility of exploration regarding our craft and materials.
On the other hand, the wider and flatter design of strokes is a nod to the logo identity form seen in our earlier generation of work.
The ‘circle’around the external frame is also stressed, in addition to the refined product shape.
When observed closely, those looking at the shape around the external frame, will notice it is slightly elliptical in form.
As a logo representing a brand with a worldwide vision, and looking to portray a symbol of space, the shape of the ellipse is closer to nature, hand-made and organic when seen alongside or in contrast to a seemingly ‘perfect’ circle.
This is also the brand form to which YSTUDIO remains loyal.
The design retained the warm touch of ink-spreading in each stroke yet still maintained a clean and crisp appearance that looked clean and a pleasure to read, hoping the beauty of Chinese text would once again be seen in the 21st century.
YSTUDIO’s new logo is to be presented on packaging and products, let us look forward to a new page in the existence of YSTUDIO!
Our original logo comes laden with the memories we have been creating together with our clients, friends, and team members over the years, and our new logo will be carrying forward that passion as we continue writing more stories on the pages of literary history.
